India thrashed Sri Lanka by 124 runs in the second semi-final of the Asian Games men's cricket competition at Kōrogi Athletic Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on Thursday, bowling out their opponents for just 45.
The total is the lowest in Sri Lanka's men's T20I history. It also equals the joint-lowest total by a Full Member nation in the format, matching West Indies' 45 all out against England at Basseterre on March 8, 2019.
Sri Lanka lasted just 9.5 overs in reply to India's 169 for seven. Five of their batters were dismissed without scoring, the joint second-most ducks recorded in a single men's T20I innings.
Jasprit Bumrah struck twice in the opening over. The India fast bowler had Sineth Jayawardena lbw for a duck, then had Sohan de Livera caught behind for another, finishing with figures of two for seven.
Abhishek Sharma took two wickets for two runs. Axar Patel also picked up two wickets in the innings.
Nuwanidu Fernando was Sri Lanka's top scorer, with 15.
Earlier, India batted first and posted 169 for seven from their 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan finished unbeaten on 80 off 46 balls, hitting four fours and five sixes.
Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made 38 off 21 balls. India added 18 runs from the final over of their innings.
The win sends India through to the Asian Games gold-medal final against Pakistan. It will be the first time the two countries have met in a cricket match at the Asian Games.
Pakistan reached the final by beating Bangladesh in the other semi-final.
