Ben Simmons continued to show encouraging signs in his NBA comeback, despite the Sacramento Kings being beaten 126-97 by the San Antonio Spurs in a pre-season game in Texas on Friday, October 16.

The Australian started for Sacramento alongside Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray and Zach LaVine, according to the NBL's Aussies Abroad column, which tracks Australians playing in the NBA.

Simmons built his NBA career with Philadelphia and Brooklyn before moving to Sacramento, and has been working his way back into regular game action through the pre-season.

The NBL's report did not detail individual statistics from the loss, focusing instead on Simmons' inclusion in the Kings' starting line-up as a positive marker in his return.

Sacramento's heavy defeat in San Antonio came as the team continued its pre-season preparations ahead of the regular NBA season.

The Kings are expected to play further pre-season fixtures before the 2026-27 NBA season begins, with Simmons' progress likely to remain a focus for Australian basketball followers.
