Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh by 63 runs in the men's cricket bronze-medal play-off at the 2026 Asian Games, held on 3 October 2026 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan.
Batting first, Sri Lanka suffered an early batting collapse before the middle order steadied the innings to lift the total to a competitive 165-9 from the full 20 overs.
The recovery was anchored by Tharindu Ratnayake, who top-scored with 65 runs off just 32 balls. His innings featured five sixes and seven fours as Sri Lanka pushed their total well past 150 after the early collapse.
Sri Lanka captain Sahan Arachchige held the other end together, making 33 off 37 balls. Arachchige and Ratnayake put together a 93-run partnership for the sixth wicket, the platform for Sri Lanka's total of 165-9.
Set a target of 166 for victory, Bangladesh were bowled out for 102 in 17.3 overs. The result gave Sri Lanka a 63-run win in the bronze-medal play-off.
Ratnayake also played a key role with the ball during the Bangladesh innings, finishing with figures of two wickets for 18 runs. It capped an all-round performance with bat and ball that proved decisive in Sri Lanka's victory.
Sri Lanka had already been eliminated from gold-medal contention earlier in the tournament, losing their semi-final to India after being bowled out for just 45. That defeat ended their hopes of gold or silver in the men's competition.
The win over Bangladesh secures Sri Lanka the bronze medal in the men's cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games.
It is Sri Lanka's third medal of the 2026 Asian Games, taking the country's overall tally at the Games to one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
