St Kilda Football Club has appointed Tony Clark to its Board of Directors, according to a media alert issued by the club on Tuesday, October 13.

Clark is the long-serving chief executive of National Transport Insurance and a lifetime supporter of the Saints, including as a Foundation supporter and sponsor of the Danny Frawley Centre.

St Kilda President Andrew Bassat said Clark's leadership record made him a strong addition to the board. "Tony's leadership credentials are exceptional. He has successfully transformed businesses, championed innovation and led high-performing teams over an extended period," Bassat said.

Bassat added that Clark's connection to the club mattered as much as his professional background. "Just as importantly, he is a passionate Saint who understands our values and ambitions, and we look forward to the contribution he will make to the Board and broader club," he said.

Clark was appointed chief executive of National Transport Insurance in 2007, having joined the company in 2001 after senior roles at RACV and GIO. Under his leadership, the business has grown into a leading specialist insurer for the freight, logistics and heavy equipment sectors.

He is also a non-executive director of AMA Group and Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia, and previously served on the board of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds, an organisation supporting mental health and wellbeing in the transport and logistics industry.

Clark holds master's qualifications in Business Administration and Advanced Business Practice, along with postgraduate studies in strategic leadership and marketing. He is a Fellow of both the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and the Australian Institute of Management, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Outside his professional work, Clark has led fundraising efforts that have raised more than $3 million for Motor Neurone Disease research. His challenges have included treks to Everest Base Camp and the Larapinta Trail, as well as pilgrimage walks in Spain and Japan.

Clark said he was looking forward to the role. "It's a real privilege to be part of this club in such a powerful way at this exciting stage of its development," he said.

"I look forward to contributing to the club's future as we continue building towards sustained success and our next premiership," Clark said.
