South East Melbourne Phoenix coach Derek Rucker says his side's run of five losses in six games is the toughest stretch of his coaching career.

Rucker's comments were published on the NBL's website under the headline "Phoenix clock is ticking: 24 hours to respond".

Despite the form slump, Rucker rejected any suggestion that guard Josh King's place in the team was under threat because of the results.

The Melbourne-based club will be looking to turn its season around when it next takes the court in the NBL.
