NSW Blues hand four uncapped players shot at One-Day Cup debut

Charlie Stobo will captain the white-ball side for the first time as the Blues field a 13-player squad missing several players on Australia A and Test duty.

The NSW Blues have named four potential debutants, including Australian Under-19 leg-spinner Naden Cooray, in their 13-player squad for Tuesday's One-Day Cup match against Tasmania at Cricket Central, starting at 10am AEDT.

Cooray, who plays for Mosman Cricket Club, took six wickets during this year's Under-19 World Cup campaign in Zimbabwe. The 20-year-old has also impressed in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 competition this season.

Bryce Jackson, Ryan Hicks and Reiley Mark round out the four players in line for their first One-Day Cup appearance for NSW. All three featured in last week's Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania.

Charlie Stobo will captain the Blues' white-ball side for the first time on Tuesday, becoming the team's 38th one-day skipper. He takes over with regular captain Lachlan Shaw unavailable while representing Australia A in India.

Shaw is not the only player missing through higher honours. Ben Dwarshuis and Tanveer Sangha, who both played in NSW's One-Day Cup wins over Queensland and Victoria last month, are also on Australia A duty. Nic Maddinson remains in South Africa with the Test team.

Liam Hatcher joins the Blues' white-ball set-up after returning from India last week. Jack Nisbet and Joe Colgan have dropped out of the squad.

Kurtis Patterson returns to the one-day side after missing last month's victory over Victoria because of a groin injury. Jack Edwards is in line to play his first One-Day Cup match of the season.

NSW's squad for the match reads: Charlie Stobo (c), Sean Abbott, Naden Cooray, Oliver Davies, Jack Edwards, Liam Hatcher, Ryan Hicks, Bryce Jackson, Riley Kingsell, Reiley Mark, Kurtis Patterson, Will Salzmann and Jake Scott.

The match against Tasmania will be shown live on cricket.com.au and Kayo Sports from the 10am AEDT start at Cricket Central.
